The older we get, the more we get this urge to stay home. Or maybe it’s just me. I would choose to stay home with everything clean and cozy, complete my skincare routine, watch my current favorite movie or read a novel, order in for food and just relax than go out to drink and scream all night. I did that and am so over it. Why go out and spend more money when I’ve already spent a ton of it to pay for this luxurious apartment? Truth be told, am still spending cause I find myself ordering stuff online. Main reason why I refuse to apply for a credit card. The delusion of having money to spend on anything I want when it’s not my money doesn’t sit well with me.
Maybe am just a homebody or an introvert but there are so many advantages to relaxing at home. These can range from:
• Improves sleep and helps prevent burnout.
• Promotes emotional health and reduces stress.
• Allows room for self reflection and creativity.
• Lower blood pressure.
• Improve brain functionality.
• Helps to save money, but of course that depends with one’s spending habits.
Simple Relaxation Methods.
If you are having a hard time relaxing at home or you need help to the kind of activities that you can do then this is for you.
- Take a bath. This might seem like a joke or not important but it helps you relax and reduce muscle stress. Pamper yourself and wear your home comfortable clothes.
- Clean your home. It doesn’t sound relaxing or fun I know, although the result can really be soothing. A clean space boosts mental health. Make it fun by listening to your favorite songs or podcasts while cleaning.
- Call someone, family member or friend. Speaking and having a laugh with a loved one can help lift up your mood.
- Watch a movie and eat some healthy snacks.
- Have date nights with yourself or partner. Light up candles, bring in a nice dinner and just enjoy the moment.
- Listen to a podcast.
- Read a book. Put your phone aside or tv off for afew minutes. Unplug yourself and read a page or chapter of a book.
- Write down in your journal about the things that you are grateful for and your goals.
- Meditate, do yoga or exercise. Go for a walk.
- Do something that you find pleasure in. It could be cooking, crafting or gardening. Go wild if you want to and rearrange the structure of your home.
Being a homebody or relaxing at home does not mean that you are isolating yourself. If that is not your preference it’s okay. Embrace what you are comfortable in. Find what you are at ease with and create a healthy space in it.
